Many experts claim it is not the search for best cancer treatment why people go to abroad but the truth is that they don’t want people in India know about these disease. Patients tend to travel abroad but that only happens in the case of celebrities and they do it the sake of privacy. Doctors also mention another reason behind this difference. It is due to the poor doctor-to-patient ratio in the country. Being India a populous country, there are large numbers of cancer patients in the country compared to the doctors. This is probably because studying oncology takes a long time and MBBS students take up other specializations. Abroad, there are more doctors and fewer patients and maybe because of that, when people can afford to, they go abroad.
