As the sinus linings swell, there is large amount of mucus that’s produced that further blocks passages between nose and sinus causing pain. Medication is usually prescribed to the patients, however, in case of chronic sinusitis, surgery is carried out. The surgeon makes an extra and enlarged passage in the wall of sinus cavity which allows the sinus to drain easily through the nasal passages and prevent them from infection. Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) helps in reduction of chronic symptoms pertaining to sinusitis.
