Sweetness Can Cause Prolonged Pain

“Don’t overdo it!” This should be our motto in life as far as consumption of sweet treats is concerned. In today’s day and age, when people are racing against time and are picking up food items to munch on while on the run, very few are actually holding themselves back and controlling their intake of sugar. And this is where people are committing a big blunder. Rising sugar levels is definitely a thing to take care of, and when left unchecked, it can lead to diabetes.

Simply put, when there’s too much of sugar in your blood, the pancreas (the gland below the stomach) stops producing enough insulin (which is a hormone). Considering that the body needs glucose for energy, and that the lack of insulin makes it difficult for the cells of the body to absorb glucose, both of these factors lead to an incurable condition called Diabetes Mellitus, commonly known as only Diabetes.

Studies suggest that mostly people are unaware of the fact that they are suffering from diabetes, and its prolonged condition without any medical treatment can lead to dire health complications - for instance, excessive glucose in the blood can damage the blood vessels, furthermore leading to nerve damage, eye damage or blindness, heart disease, kidney failure or stroke, even! Hence, it’s best to keep a lookout for these symptoms and see if you’re suffering from any of these:
1.)    High blood pressure
2.)    Weight loss
3.)    Frequent urination
4.)    Blurred vision
5.)    Slow healing sores
6.)    Tiredness
7.)    Numbness of feet
8.)    Increase in appetite

Make sure that you’re not facing any of the above mentioned symptoms. In case you are, it’s best to get checked for diabetes as soon as possible. In fact, Max Super Speciality Hospital in Mohali has organized a Free Diabetes Check Camp. Starting from the 9th of September 2013 up till the 14th of September, 2013, there would be free consultations with Endocrinologists and Dieticians, apart from the free Diabetes check-up.

So for all those who are staying in and near Mohali, we suggest that you come down to the camp to take the first step towards awareness and prevention. This camp would also prove extremely fruitful to those individuals or those families who have a history of the ‘diabetic condition’. Make sure that diabetes isn’t running in your blood or your genes, for that matter!
